Nutrition is like riding a bike

When it comes to mastering your nutrition there is one principle that you need to understand, be relentless with it. Mastering your nutrition is a lot like riding a bike. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes incredibly easy. Yes, it can be simple and effective.

Getting a hold of your nutrition is something a vast majority of people over-complicate. Everyone thinks they need x number of supplements, to lose x amount of pounds, or need to do x diet to say they have a hold on their nutrition. What if I told you all of that was wrong? Mastering your nutrition is all about finding what works best for you. The best analogy I have for that is it’s like riding a bike.

When you were learning how to ride a bike, you fell. Like a lot. But did you stop trying to learn? For 99.9% of us, we did not. We kept pushing through. So why do people fail once with their nutrition and call it a day? If you were to look at any person who has a hold of their nutrition, they would tell you they fucked up more times than they can count. They tried x fad diet, tried restricting calories for long periods of time or just were flat out eating too much food for their daily needs. But they never gave up. They would try something and realize that most of those things didn't work for them or their lifestyle then they would try something new. This takes time, for some, it can be months. For others, it could be years.

Having a coach can help you along the way. In a lot of ways, a coach is like a set of training wheels. While not necessary they help a fuck ton when you are just learning.

Have you ever wondered how many calories you needed to eat?

Ever wondered if you are eating enough protein?

Worry no more! You can get access to my free macro calculator! This calculator is designed and perfected to be the exact calculations all EN clients receive.

(don’t worry this is free, just put $0 in the price column and you can continue to download it)

A good nutrition coach can help you avoid those early pitfalls that we all go through. Most of my new clients always struggle to eat enough protein and they will over-rely on powders and shakes. Having done that myself, I can show them easy ways to replace the powders with nutrient-rich foods. This is cheaper and you get more vitamins and minerals. So it is a win-win across the board. I could list 100 different easily avoidable issues but this article will get too long so ill save them for another day. A nutrition coach can also be the supportive figure you need to keep going when you do fail. Let's face it, you're not going to be great at tracking or knowing how to eat for you. It's not a slight against you, it's just the truth. Coaches are a great source of accountability and reassurance. When you fall off your bike your parent most likely picked you up, let you cry, and then put you back on your bike to try again. Your coach is no different.

Lastly, coaches can help you build a strong foundation. You can make insane progress by just mastering the basics of nutrition + time. It's not different than riding a bike. If you can get from point A to B safely, you will continue to ride. It probably took you a few years to decide to ride your bike with no hands or to ride with one hand. Nutrition is the same way. Get really good at going from point A to B and then focus on the smaller things like timing, supplements, and composition.
