Its not that serious I promise
I will be talking today about fitness but this can apply to most things in life. Its. not. That. serious.

It's really not that serious
When all is said and done, fitness just boils down to sets and reps. Numbers on a spreadsheet. This might be a very nihilistic view Im giving out but it will all make sense by the end of this article.
Think about it
Fitness for 99% of the world is just something we do to be a bit healthier, for fun, to feel more confident, or to feel a sense of accomplishment. It shouldn't be something that can make or break your day. You're not a professional athlete so your livelihood does not depend on this. Again, its not that serious. It's all just sets and reps on a spreadsheet.
If you truly want to make a difference in your fitness… stop looking at your program and supplements and start looking at your effort levels.
Are you truly giving your workouts an effort you'd be proud of?
If you're reading this and the answer isn't an immediate “ fuck yes” then you can be giving a better effort. This isn't to say that you need to kill yourself in the gym each training session. Actually it's the opposite. You need to give a good effort but be smart about it. Redlining every workout is a one-way street to an injury. Not giving enough effort is the equivalent of getting your car stuck in the mud. The tires will spin but you go nowhere.
This past week I had a call with a protective client. She was really smart, knew more than she thought she did about nutrition but just wasn’t confident in her decision-making with her macros and some food choices. 90% of the people I coach or have given advice to fall into that same basket
you know what to do
you know how to do it
but you just can’t do it for long term
There can be a myriad of reasons why you can’t but you never know if you don’t try!
Next week I’ll be opening up 5 more 1:1 coaching spots. I’ve already reached my client limit but I am willing to help out a few more people!
If you’re interested or want to learn more, reply back to this email and we can figure it all out
Now back to learning more about why effort matters
Want to know how I know this is true? I am a perfect example of effort levels. About 8 months ago I hired a CrossFit coach ( because I’m delusional and think i can compete). He was not cheap but he coaches some of the best athletes in the sport. My program was written by one of the best coaches around but I wasn't making progress. Why? That's right, I wasn't giving an effort every day that im proud of looking back. On the flip side, when I moved gyms back in 2021, I was paying just a gym membership and the owner was writing a group of us extra programming. I was giving a much better effort then and all my lifts increased across the board.
I could go into more detail on myself or my current clients and how the ones who give a shit are the ones who make the progress but I think you all get the point.
Fitness is just a bunch of sets and reps but your effort is where the true progress will happen.
It's simple, if you want to progress… give a shit and give an effort you'd be proud to tell your mom about.
