I heard a scary statistics yesterday
As you know I am very into health and fitness, I am a nutritionist, a CrossFit coach, I post on social media and I write you these emails two times per week. What I try not to do is be one of those people who don’t understand why people don’t live a healthy life. It is very easy for someone in my position to become so narrowly focused on what “healthy” people do that I forget about the other 90% of the population.
Yesterday I was listening to a podcast and one of the guests on the show said
“ The average American knows more about the use of supplements than they do about basic dietary information”
This is scary as fuck. You should be scared too!
Let’s run through some basic examples of why this should scare you
Someone understand the use of fish oil but doesn’t understand that eating fish can provide all those same benefits and more
Someone understands the use of protein powder but doesn’t understand that whole-food protein options have more vitamins and minerals in them.
Someone understands that taking vitamin D is good for you but they don’t realize getting outside for a 10-minute walk will make them feel better, move better, and get all the vitamin D they need for free.
These are just 3 examples I had off the top of my head, I could come up with many more if I took the time to sit down and think this all through.
