Does crossfit make you jacked?
Does the popular group fitness methodology actually work?

What is crossfit
Depending on who you ask this question can be answered many different ways. The “textbook” definition is
“ constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity”
WTF does that mean?
In normal people terms it means they combine various types of working out and jack up the intensity.
Some people love it, others love to hate it. Like i said it all depends on who you ask.

Why CrossFit Gets a bad rep
Crossfit gets a bad reputation for two main reasons. The first is an outdated stereotype that everyone who does CrossFit gets hurt. The second is that anyone can become a CrossFit coach or CrossFit gym owner, all you need to do is take a weekend seminar.
I didn’t explain the first reason yet because its explanation is the second reason. When CrossFit first came around in the early 2000s, anyone and everyone was trying to open a box and get members. Not all of these people were qualified and only the good coaches/business owners took the time to teach their members the proper technique and skill movements. If you’ve done CrossFit you know there are plenty of bad gyms but when you find a good one, it will become your second home. Today, most gyms have coaches on a full-time salary who’s sole job is to program for the gym, onboard new members and help the other coaches improve their craft of teaching. The education and professionalism in CrossFit today has 100x better than it was even 10 years ago.
The CrossFit level 1 certification is a fairly easy cert to get. If you go to the weekend seminar and actually pay attention you can pass the test. You can pass even with little to no fitness education. As I said before this has led to many people not being qualified to coach or run a gym. But enough bashing of CrossFit.
Is CrossFit a good exercise methodology
Again, depending on who you ask you will hear different thoughts on this but I personally love it. I am someone who had done the typical globo gym workouts. I’d go do my strength, then my cardio then my core. I would have my weekly split and rock a cutoff ( told you I was a tool when I was younger). But I found CrossFit when I needed an outlet for sports post-college and it has been amazing. I have been fortunate that I found great gyms to help push me and help build a strong base. If you are someone who needs to vary your fitness routine or someone who hates doing the same thing day in and day out, CrossFit might just be for you.

Will CrossFit make you jacked?
Will CrossFit get you jacked? Can you look like a games athlete? I think CrossFit can get you to whatever shape you want to be in, but you need to actually work for it. If you wanted to look like a games athlete you’d need to train like one. Whichever fitness routine you currently do can get you jacked, but you need to work on it. Crossfit can be particularly effective due to its dabbling in all types of fitness. Want to get strong, focus more on Olympic weightlifting and powerlifting but still do a metcon. Need to get an aerobic base, and do more cardio but still include strength. All of the previous fitness areas can be done in one session in a class or can be done over the course of a week. This is why CrossFit can get you to look how you want faster than others. There is no stone unturned to find your fitness.
Now I don’t want you to think that by doing CrossFit you’re going to get jacked and shredded. You still need to pay attention to your nutrition.
