Bring a gun to a knife fight

WTF I thought this was a nutrition newsletter??

Before you ask “I thought this was a nutrition newsletter wtf does this mean” I want you to just continue reading.

I don’t want you to bring a knife to a gunfight, I want you to bring a theoretical gun to a knife fight. I want you to be able to see through the bullshit in the industry from afar and not even need to engage.

While I know this is an outrageous way to say this, let me provide some context. A few months back I saw the owners of a nutrition company and a high-level CrossFit games athlete debate over a continuous glucose monitor on Instagram. The owners of the nutrition company ( shoutout Alex and Merideth) were just trying to ask the guy the purpose and utility of having this monitor. Long story short they went back and forth for 10’s of comments to no real answer and agreed to disagree.

This got me thinking, if these 3 high-level athletes and 3 very intelligent people in the fitness space cannot agree on the same thing, how should my clients or less informed people know? It opened my eyes to how decisive nutrition advice can become. People usually only believe in what worked for them or believe in the most recent studies, there is no in-between.

From then on I decided I would try and bring fitness and nutrition advice to you guys and dumb it down so the everyday person could understand what is going on. This was the creation of “ nutrition for normal people”. This slogan runs through my head about 5 times a day. The goal of this is to help you see through the bullshit, don’t waste time and energy on stupid arguments, and go into every day having a decent to good knowledge of nutrition to fuel yourself for whatever might pop up.
