How to avoid the women in the red dress
Its time for a story

I don’t often tell stories in these emails but this one really hit home for me so I wanted to share it with you all.
A few months ago I decided to watch all of the Matrix movies before watching the newest one that came out. I highly recommend you watch at least the first one, its fucking sweet( the other two are ok/good). Before I start ranting about why this movie is so good, I want to discuss the woman in the red dress.
Avoid her. Avoid her like the plague. I don’t need to go too into detail about who she is and why she’s important since this metI’ver has been used for years. In case you live under a rock and never hear this before, this is a woman that Neo finds attractive and while he is staring at her he’s missing out on important information from Morpheus. This happens to you too, you just don’t realize it.
It could be a shiny new fad diet or a new training program that just came out. Its ok to look. We are humans we all do it, hell i’ve caught myself distracted so many times. What I want to share with you are my top 3 ways to avoid getting distracted by the women in the red dress
1) Ask yourself: How does this get me to my goal?
Like I said a second ago, we all get distracted but successful people get back to their work much faster. There have been plenty of internet rabbit holes I have gone down and I can assure you I learned nothing productive from it. No one cares how they qualify fish as sushi grade. But plenty of other times I looked for a minute and went and took a walk. This allowed me to break my concentration for a minute and reset. Instead of spending the next 10-40 minutes looking at nonsense I got some steps in and came back ready to work on whatever I needed to
2) Is the new object, toy, program, diet … etc going to help me, hurt me or keep me the same?
If you are going to take time to invest, learn, and buy whatever you are distracted by, what’s it going to do? Will it make you fitter, healthier, or wealthier? Will it do the opposite? Or will it keep you the same? You would be shocked at how many things do nothing for you at the end of the day
3) Am I only looking because I want to find a way that isn’t boring?
Trying to be successful In anything sucks. It’s incredibly boring and you never feel like you are making the progress you should be. The new PR hasn’t come yet, you haven’t lost any more weight, or you haven’t gotten the promotion you wanted yet. Well, you can try something new because it would be exciting fun, and energizing. But at its core is it any different than what you are currently doing?
for example: You want to lose weight ( using nutrition because it’s what I love to talk about). You hired a coach, got their plan, and follow that plan 80-90% of the time. Should you
a) follow that plan and trust your coach for another 2-3 months.
b) discuss other options with your coach
c) ghost the coach and start a new program because it worked for your gym buddy
d) Hire a new coach and talk shit about your old coach.
If you don’t answer A or B then you need to re-read this post!
TRUST THE PROCESS and stop getting distracted. There is always going to be a new woman in the red dress.
